Edited by: Iurnan Mileghere on 24/06/2011 00:39:31 The chief complaint is micro transactions. Prices are one thing, but you must address the leaked newsletter and the direction on MTs that affect game progression, such as faction eta digs, ammunition, and ships.
If you cannot address those issues, please communicate to your team that someone at CCP hf who *can* needs to do so.

Our newsletters are written as a means to bring about discussion (that sometimes can even become heated debate) among our coworkers. That's really all I can say about it. I am not a game designer. I'm a mouthpiece. I'll admit it. By the time I get involved, the decisions have been made. Not making excuses for myself, just explaining.
Then escalate this to someone who can. Nothing personal, but you are not the person who can fix this.

Aurum for stuff that doesn't affect the game? No worries. I wanted to buy some stuff, though not with this pricing strategy.
Aurum for game progression? Sorry, I will go play Black Prophecy or something if that's what I want. That's not EVE, and if you want to pivot to a new game model and player base, I suggest you ask SOE how well that worked out.
You are on the cusp of the *real* EVE NGE. Don't go down that path.

I personally would not like to see one of the driving forces behind the Alliance Tournament and the spiritual leader of Team BFF take a fall for agreeing to present one opposing side of the microtransaction debate in an internal newsletter.[/quote
Agreeing to present it? Are you suggesting he is NOT designing for that direction, and instead was playing Devil's Advocate?
With respect, that does not seem like a reasonable interpretation.

Are you going to **** the EVE Online sandbox over for Monetary Transactions or not? If not, all is forgiven. If MTs are going to impact the sandbox, start printing your resumes and god help you all.
The designs we will implement in game will not **** over the sandbox.
You know I love you on Twitter but I don't think that's something we can take from a PR filter at the moment. You just aren't the guy who can make that commitment and mean it.

I'm worried because he has a very controversial opinion and he's in a position of power.
This. We aren't taking about some random QA guy, we are talking about a lead game designer. Let the man stay employed, obviously, he needs to make a living. But he may not be in exactly the right role for him, if he really believes those things.

FWIW, I do want Incarna. I want it to work well and I don't want anyone else to feel like they have to walk in stations if they'd rather be flying or spinning, but lotsof really do look forward to it.
The issue is the non-cosmetic MTs. Don't lose focus.

I honestly don't even think it matters anymore. If they haven't answered "No" yet, then it means that they are probably working out a way to circle around the question.
The answer is in tomorrow's dev blog. We will see.

For the love of Christ Manifest, if you can't answer the big yellow question, at least say so openly so I don't have to keep refreshing the page.
He can't, wait for the dev blog tomorrow.
